California State University, Dominguez Hills was one of nine campuses that participated in CSU Health Professions Advocacy Day last Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the State Capitol in Sacramento. The focus of the visits was to educate California lawmakers about the CSU's varied academic programs related to the health industry and the important role campuses have in educating, training and providing a pathway to careers in those fields to individuals in their communities. As something she and her mom used to do for fun, Nicole Leonard would often spend weekends spontaneously dropping in on real estate open houses in and near Torrance, where she was born and still calls home. Eleven seniors majoring in health sciences at California State University, Dominguez Hills presented details of their research at two high-level conferences during the fall semester. For perhaps the greatest legacy of his career–redesigning the Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding (NCRP) as stand-alone undergraduate and master's degree programs at California State University, Dominguez Hills–Avrum Marco Turk was honored with the Southern California Mediation Association's (SCMA) 2013 L. Randolph Lowry Award.
