Students and others in need of help this tax season have a great resource right here on the CSUDH campus - the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, staffed by Toro students. The no-cost tax preparation service is an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) program open to any individuals whose 2019 income was less than $56,000. It is designed to provide assistance to low-income citizens, students, the elderly, disabled, and those with limited English proficiency. In 2019, VITA volunteers helped file over 300 returns, and that number is expected to increase this year. It used to be that first-year CSU students who struggled with math or English were placed in remedial education classes to prepare them to do college-level work. Because they received no credit for these courses, that often meant they spent more time and money attending college before earning their degree. In fall 2018, that changed. (Carson, CA) - In celebration of Black History Month, California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Department of Theatre and Dance has announced the theatrical production of American playwright August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama “Seven Guitars.” Performances will take place Feb. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m., and Feb. 23 and March 1 at 2 p.m. in CSUDH's University Theatre. CSUDH Receives Grant to Support Victims/Survivors of Sexual Assault and Violence
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has received a three-year, $298,719 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ's) Office of Violence Against Women to develop and launch the Grants to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program at CSUDH. Established by Congress in 2006, the grant supports community-based approaches to enhance victim safety, provides services for victims/survivors, and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable.
