Family of Faith Christian Center Gets a Look at CSU Dominguez Hills

Congresswoman Karen Bass (Class of '90, B.S., health sciences) welcomed Family of Faith Christian Center to her alma mater during the CSU’s Super Sunday event.

President Mildred García represented California State University, Dominguez Hills during the CSU’s Super Sunday event on Feb. 20 by addressing the congregation of Family of Faith Christian Center, a local church that meets in the Loker Student Union. Pastor Sherman Gordon welcomed García along with special guests Congresswoman Karen Bass and Carson Councilmember Lula Davis-Holmes, who are both alumnae of CSU Dominguez Hills. Consul General of the Republic of Hungary to Visit CSU Dominguez Hills

Ambassador Balázs Bokor, consul general of the Republic of Hungary in Los Angeles, will visit CSU Dominguez Hills on Wednesday, March 16.

Hungary has given the world more than Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor, the Rubik’s Cube, Béla Bartók, and the Pulitzer Prize; it has made considerable contributions that helped to change the world. Ambassador Balázs Bokor, consul general of the Republic of Hungary in Los Angeles, will visit California State University, Dominguez Hills to discuss Hungary’s relationship with the United States, and the world, on Wednesday, March 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Loker Student Union, Ballroom C. Mayors’ Roundtable Brings CSU Dominguez Hills to South Bay Community

South Bay mayors and pro-tems met with President Mildred García to discuss "the university of the South Bay."

President Mildred García met with mayors of the South Bay cities at a roundtable discussion hosted by Mayor Frank Scotto of Torrance at the Torrance City Hall on Feb. 16. Among those in attendance were Mike Gin, mayor of Redondo Beach; Anthony Misetich, mayor pro tem of Rolling Hills Estates; Godfrey Pernell, mayor of Rolling Hills; Robert Pullen-Miles, mayor pro tem of Lawndale; and John Rea, mayor pro tem of Palos Verdes Estates. García addressed the mayors and presented the university’s achievements that include last fall’s record enrollment of more than 15,000 students and the elimination of a $2.8 million structural deficit. Terry McMillan Reads New Book at Loker Student Union

Terry McMillan, the bestselling author of “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” “Disappearing Acts,” and “Waiting to Exhale,” visited California State University, Dominguez Hills on Feb. 15. Students Share Their Scholarship at CSU Dominguez Hills Student Research Day

From a study on coping strategies of the unemployed in Los Angeles to one on mobile device separation anxiety, more than 100 academic topics will be presented by undergraduate and graduate students during the sixth annual California State University, Dominguez Hills Student Research Day on Thursday, Feb. 24.
