CBAPP Faculty Leads Management Education Development Program in Ethiopia

In some respects, when companies from countries outside of Africa open businesses in Ethiopia, it’s an economic opportunity for the developing nation. In other respects, such imported enterprises introduce a host of challenges, something Jim Katzenstein, a full-time lecturer of management at California State University, Dominguez Hills, aims to remedy. Ellen Junn Named New Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs

Following a national search, Willie J. Hagan, president of California State University, Dominguez Hills, has appointed Ellen Junn as provost and vice president for academic affairs effective Jan. 21, 2014. Twenty-seven of Junn’s 30 years of experience in higher education have been within the CSU, most recently as provost and vice president for academic affairs at San José State University (SJSU). Archives Department Receives Upton Sinclair Collection

The Archives and Special Collections Department in the Library at CSU Dominguez Hills has received a generous donation of a collection relating to author Upton Sinclair (1878-1968). One of the most prolific authors of the 20th century, Sinclair saw “The Jungle,” his muckraking novel exposing the meat packing industry, lead directly to food and drug reforms following its sensational reception in 1906. “The Jungle" is still taught in classes all over the world. President Willie J. Hagan, Students Honored by Millennium Momentum Foundation

California State University, Dominguez Hills President Willie J. Hagan was honored with the Millennium Momentum Foundation (MMF) 2013 Ambassador of Education Award, and three students from the university were recognized with the foundation’s Best and Brightest Scholarship during the nonprofit’s 11th Annual Opening Doors Awards Gala at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Dec. 6. Competition Heats up at Sixth Annual Toro Iron Chef

The weather may have been chilly, but the competition was red hot during the California State University, Dominguez Hills’ Toro Iron Chef VI as teams cooked up delectable dishes, which included a secret ingredient that was revealed to the culinary crafters just moments before the action began. “The most challenging part was the beginning, trying to figure out what we were going to prepare once we found out the secret ingredient—smoked turkey leg—and figuring out who’s going to do what.
