A third-grade girl in an Anderson Elementary School uniform looks excited yet a little apprehensive as she takes her turn swinging at the ball perched on top of a batting tee. She chokes up high on the bat, takes aim. It's a swing and a miss. “That's okay,” says Kevin Lugo, a kinesiology major who plays first base for California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) baseball team. “Try again.” He places another ball on the tee. New International Students Welcomed to Campus
With food, dance and a very social and unique round of bingo, 34 new international students were welcomed to California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) by the College of Extended and International Education (CEIE) during its International Student Welcome Reception on Sept. 23. The festivities included remarks from CEIE Dean Kim McNutt, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Ellen Junn, and Acting Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs William Franklin. Strategic Plan Town Hall Provides Campus Feedback Opportunity
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) faculty, staff and students joined campus administrators on Sept. 22 for a town hall meeting to discuss the first draft of the university's 2014-2020 Strategic Plan and provide feedback for the plan's final development stages. The approximately 200 attendees who gathered in the Loker Student Union Ballroom were encouraged to provide both verbal comments and weigh in through text messages and online polling that measured the priority of each goal's objectives and strategies. College of Arts and Humanities Salim Faraji, associate professor of Africana studies, attended the 13th annual International Conference for Nubian Studies and presented a paper based on his 2012 book, The Roots of Nubian Christianity Uncovered: The Triumph of the Last Pharaoh.
