2019 Faculty Awards Honor Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service

California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) honored five faculty members during the 2019 Faculty Awards Reception on April 18 for their excellence in teaching and research, their contributions to university governance and development, and for the role non-tenure track faculty play in student achievement. During the reception, which took place in the Loker Student Union, 40 of their colleagues were also celebrated for five to 35 Years of Service to the university. CSUDH to award Olympic gold medalist Carmelita Jeter with honorary degree

April 25, 2019

Cal State Dominguez Hills will award an Olympic gold medalist who graduated from the university with an honorary doctorate at a graduation ceremony next month. Carmelita Jeter, a 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the 4×100-meter relay, will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the university and the California State University board of trustees on May 17. She will receive the degree at the commencement ceremony for the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing, for which she will be the keynote speaker. Queer Culture and Resource Center Opens at CSUDH

With the drop of a rainbow-colored ribbon and applause from a lively crowd of supporters, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) officially opened the Queer Culture and Resource Center (QCRC) on April 11. Located off the West Walkway next to the DH Sports Lounge’s busy patio, the resource center has already begun to fulfill one of its primary goals: to provide a visible and welcoming space for students who historically have not been well recognized on university campuses. Alumni Share Knowledge and Try Their Hand at Teaching During Professor for a Day

Passing on knowledge and advice that will help both students and their industries thrive are among the top reasons California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) alumni return to their alma mater for the university’s annual Professor for a Day. Experiencing teaching at the college level and as a potential future career option is another. This year, 31 alumni became honorary professors in the most industry-diverse cohort in Professor for a Day history, which after six years has grown to cover several days. CSUDH Celebrates 9th Annual Pow Wow with Weekend-Long Festival

April 24, 2019

For its Ninth annual Pow Wow, the Cal State Dominguez Hills community held a two-day celebration highlighting Native American culture, with traditional songs, food, and performances Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, in the campus’ sculpture garden. The event combined traditions from numerous indigenous tribes across the country, including dances performed in colorful tribal regalia, as well as singing and drumming, and flute music.
