Joann Fenton, a former dean at California State University, Dominguez Hills, died of cancer in May 2012, Dateline Dominguez has learned. She was 75. Fenton joined the faculty of CSU Dominguez Hills in 1970 as a professor of anthropology, and in 1979 was named dean of the then School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She served in that position until 1987 when she moved to Pennsylvania to become the provost and vice president of academic affairs at Shippensburg University. Trustees Appoint Timothy P. White as Seventh CSU Chancellor
The California State University Board of Trustees named Timothy P. White, the current chancellor of the University of California, Riverside, as the seventh chancellor to lead the 23-campus CSU system, the largest four-year public higher education system in the country. “I am humbled to have been chosen to lead the California State University system at such a transformative time," said White. California State University, Dominguez Hills alumnus Martín Donaciano Chavez was devoted to the university, continuing well beyond graduating with a B.S. in public administration in 1982 and a master's in public administration in 1985. He died on Friday, Sept. 21, after suffering a stroke. He was 53. Martín served on the Alumni Advisory Council for many years to the time of his death, and had served as president in 2006 when it was known as the Alumni Association.
