Faculty and students from the Department of Africana Studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills attended the 35th Annual National Council for Black Studies (NCBS) Conference held in Cincinnati, Ohio, in March. Through a variety of forums and presentations, the conference provided opportunities to exchange ideas, network and learn the latest scholarship in the field. The California State University, Dominguez Hills Department of Theatre and Dance presents an original play “For Then We Are Strong: The Brenda Project” on April 22, 23, 29, and 30 at 8 p.m., and May 1 at 2 p.m. in the University Theatre. During National Poetry Month, the Department of English at California State University, Dominguez Hills will host the annual Pat Eliet Lecture featuring poet and novelist Sesshu Foster as the guest speaker on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Loker Student Union Ballroom. Clare Weber, associate professor and chair of sociology, was recently elected as a member of the editorial collective of Latin American Perspectives . The internationally recognized journal, which was established in 1974, features research by Latin American scholars as well as scholars from around the globe.
