Brezenoff has worked in psychiatric social work for 22 years, and as a clinical social worker in private therapy practice since 2006. He has served in management and supervision at College Hospital Partial Hospitalization Program, Telecare La Casa IMD, and Mental Health America, where he is currently associate director of the Village Full Service Partnership for adults.
He was the nominee of the Green Party for United States Congress in California’s 37th district in 2007. He then served as Green Party Southern California Spokesperson for from 2007-2009. Brezenoff also served as legislative director to Long Beach First District City Councilmember Robert Garcia, and then as deputy chief of staff for Garcia his election as Mayor of Long Beach by supervising communications, serving as liaison to the city council, and as a point person for issues pertaining to mental health, homelessness, the arts, and environmental issues.
In 2016, Brezenoff initiated what became the largest petition in history, calling on the Electoral College to vote against Donald Trump. The petition received 4.9 signatures and resulted in 7 electors abandoning their respective candidates, the most in American history.
