Professional Background
Dr. Mutchler’s research interests include sociology of health and illness with a focus on HIV prevention and treatment issues among gay men, community studies, sexualities, social psychology, and methods. He has published 24 peer review publications and delivered numerous peer review presentations at local, state, national, and international conferences with student co-authors. Dr. Mutchler has been the Principal Investigator (P.I) on several externally funded research projects and co-PI on many more. He currently directs the Urban Community Research Center at CSUDH, teaching research workshop courses with undergraduate and graduate students interested in investigating social issues in the south bay region.
Dr. Mutchler also serves as director of community-based research with AIDS Project Los Angeles.
