California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has been named a STARS Bronze Institution by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), marking the first time the campus has been recognized nationally for its overall environmental sustainability efforts. AASHE's STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Reporting System) rating system examines such criteria as campus and public engagement, sustainable operations, planning and administration, and innovation and leadership. During a break at a Hollywood restaurant where they prepared sumptuous cuts of meat, lobster, pâté, and colorful cheese and fruit platters, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) graduate student Hawk McFadzen recalls spending their time filling out paperwork to apply for food stamps for their children. “We [restaurant employees] could never afford to eat where we worked, or even eat well after work because we were also dealing with what's called time poverty. Science and Innovation Building on Schedule for Fall 2020 Opening
With numerous complex stages of implementation, construction on a building as technically advanced and educationally accommodating as California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Science and Innovation Building takes time, as well as the patience of those eager to teach and learn in it. Fortunately for all, construction on the $82 million, 91,000-square-foot instructional and research center is on schedule to be completed in October 2019.
