Source: Press-Telegram Esports broke out at the Century Villages at Cabrillo last week, thanks to a group of college students from Cal State Dominguez Hills. Ruby, a 10-year-old who lives at Century Villages at Cabrillo, was among the players. She's resident at the 27-acre permanent supportive housing community that is home to more than 1,500 people, including veterans, seniors and families with children who have all experienced homelessness. Children growing up at the Villages have the opportunity to participate in after-school programs, as well as summer enrichment programs, that help them succeed academically and socially. CSUDH and City of Carson Sign Town and Gown Promise
On July 28, 2021, City of Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes and California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) President Thomas A. Parham signed the Town and Gown Promise agreement paving the way for meaningful advancement in the relationship between the university and city. The signing ceremony was held in front of CSUDH's newly completed Innovation and Instruction Building, one of the three major new buildings on the campus. KTLA: At STEM Summer Camp, Students Use the Latest Tech to Tackle Environment Issues

At Fleming Middle School in Lomita, students are using the latest technology like iPads, iMovie and 3D printers to tackle environment issues like global warming. Contrary to what popular media portrays, we actually don't know much about what sharks eat. Even less is known about how they digest their food, and the role they play in the larger ocean ecosystem. For more than a century, researchers have relied on flat sketches of sharks' digestive systems to discern how they function – and how what they eat and excrete impacts other species in the ocean.
