Student Research Day (SRD), CSUDH's primary showcase of student research and scholarship, held its 17th annual competition on Feb. 16 and 17. Despite the obstacles presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a large cohort of Toro student researchers descended on Loker Student Union for the yearly event–with a smaller contingent participating virtually. Over 100 projects were presented in oral presentations or poster sessions. Of those, 28 were selected for honors at the Reception and Award Assembly that closed the event (see list below). CSUDH Art Gallery Presents an Exhibition of Work by Lauren Halsey
The University Art Gallery at CSUDH proudly presents a solo exhibition of work by the Los Angeles-based artist Lauren Halsey. The exhibition will be on view March 12 through December 10, 2022; Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to an opening reception for “Lauren Halsey” on Saturday, March 12, from 12 to 6 p.m. The artist's latest venture in funkified placemaking, this exhibition extends Halsey's architectural mappings, materializing itself in objects, names, remembrances, and colors of home. Homecoming 2022 Brings Toro Alums Back to Campus
CSUDH celebrated Homecoming 2022 on Saturday, Feb. 19, welcoming hundreds of Toro alumni and their families back to campus for a day of fun activities, reunions, and discovery. Toros Engage and Entertain at the Super Bowl
CSUDH had a strong showing at Super Bowl LVI, with Toros involved in several aspects of the historic Los Angeles occasion and the events leading up to it. Halftime Show In a university first, the CSUDH Dance Team got to perform in the Super Bowl halftime show for 70,000 fans in SoFi Stadium with Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem. Six student members of the dance team, one recent alumna, and Coach Cilecia Foster performed as part of the 150-person field cast during Eminem's piece and the concert finale.
