Source: Daily Breeze A free art exhibition that sheds light on the impact of prison on incarcerated individuals and their families will be available for public viewing at Cal State Dominguez Hills starting Saturday, Sept. 30. “Personal, Small, Medium, Large, Family,” an installation by Mario Ybarra Jr., will run through Dec. 8 at the University Art Gallery. Toro Guardian Scholars Officially Opens New Home
Lots of joy and love were on display on Tuesday, Sept. 19, as the Toro Guardian Scholars (TGS) program welcomed the campus community to the official grand opening of their new space in Welch Hall. TGS is a comprehensive program dedicated to supporting Toro students who have transitioned from the foster care system or homelessness. They help students with everything from obtaining basic needs and emergency housing to financial literacy workshops and academic support. BestColleges: California Program Makes Master’s Degrees More Attainable for Incarcerated Students
Source: BestColleges California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is partnering with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to offer a master's degree program for incarcerated students. The HUX program will offer a fully accredited master of arts in humanities and take two years to complete. Partnership Aims to Strengthen Health Sector
Educational leaders and healthcare professionals from South Los Angeles met on the CSUDH campus this week to sign the Compton Community Health Professions Partnership that will promote healthcare careers among secondary, undergraduate, and graduate students, and address persistent disparities in healthcare outcomes for local communities of color. New Exhibition Explores Alternative Journalism
The exhibition "Alternate Takes: Community, Underground and Alternative Newspapers, Zines, & Comix at the CSUDH Gerth Archives & Special Collections," is now open in the Library Cultural Arts Gallery. The exhibition is focused on alternative and community newspapers and publications, and the history told and preserved within their pages.
