Ariana Stein’s Books Help Parents Connect Children to their Heritage
Helping ensure that her 4-year-old son's generation learns about its Latino heritage, and that "assimilation doesn't get the best of them," is of the upmost importance for CSU Dominguez Hills alumna Ariana Stein. Stein's longtime friend Patty Rodriguez, who is also a mother, couldn't agree more. In fact, when Stein first discussed the importance of passing on their culture with her, Rodriguez had already been on such a "journey" trying to submit dual-language children book manuscripts to publishers, but with little success. "We shared ideas, but more importantly, we shared the same passion for the goals we had envisioned," said Stein (2008, B.A., business administration). "When she ... Read More
South Bay Described as ‘Engine of Growth’ During CSUDH’s Economic Forecast
Despite a slower pace of job creation in 2016, the South Bay has remained an “engine of growth in Los Angeles County” with employment at a record high, and many industries adding jobs and offering higher wages. That positive, yet reserved, description of the South Bay's economy was derived from California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) report “A Region in Transition: Changes and Trends in Consumer Behavior,” which was released and analyzed on Oct. 5 during the university's 2017-18 South Bay Economic Forecast. Hosted by Frank Mottek, anchor for KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO, the economic conference provided a comprehensive, data-driven report on the current state of the South Bay and ... Read More

The South Bay's economy is bursting at the seams with full employment and a labor market that's tighter than Los Angeles County as a whole, according to a new local economic report released Thursday by Cal State Dominguez Hills. Business at the Port of Los Angeles, in the South Bay's southern Harbor Area, is doing better than ever as the U.S. economy enters into its ninth year of expansion and both imports and exports are on the rise, the report said. Workers in the local transportation and warehousing industry made 12.5 percent more last year than the prior year, and that continues to trend upward. Strong aerospace, technology, and energy sectors also paint a lucrative portrait of the ... Read More
