CSUDH's stalwart support for Latinx transfer students has earned the university recognition as a 2021 Equity Champion for Excellence in Transfer for Latinx Students. Announced at the Champions of Higher Education and Equity Champions for Excellence in Transfer annual awards ceremony, CSUDH's honor reflected the university's success in leading the state in supporting Latinx students through the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program. New Murals Adorn Innovation & Instruction Building
The Innovation and Instruction Building is a striking new structure on the CSUDH campus, but the visual appeal isn't just in its architecture. Inside, Toros are greeted by a series of eye-catching murals created by Los Angeles artist Mark Steven Greenfield. The eight murals adorn walls throughout the building, adding a vibrant and meaningful touch to its interior spaces. CSUDH Jumps to 8th Place on the Social Mobility Index
CSUDH has risen from 10th to 8th place on CollegeNET, Inc.'s 2021 Social Mobility Index, a benchmark for universities according to how effectively they graduate students from low-income backgrounds into good-paying jobs. The 2021 Social Mobility Index includes 1,549 four-year institutions. Six CSU campuses, including CSUDH, were among the top ten. The Index utilizes five variables in making assessments, including tuition, economic background, graduation rate, early career salary, and university endowment, with the greatest emphasis put on tuition and economic background. Meals 4 Toros Program Distributes Thanksgiving Dinners to Students in Need
Responding to the needs of many in the Toro Nation, the staff of CSUDH's Basic Needs Office distributed Thanksgiving meals to students on Friday, Nov. 19. The event was part of the university's new Meals 4 Toros program, which is aimed at providing holiday dinners for CSUDH students in need. The program is a joint effort between the Office of Development, the Basic Needs Office, and Campus Dining. It was the brainchild of Andre Khachaturians, CSUDH's senior director of annual campaigns and advancement services. With a $700,000 donation to CSUDH, Doug Le Bon made university history for donating the largest gift to CSUDH from a living alum.
