On March 21, in partnership with Ormat Technologies, CSUDH reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability with the addition of 11 new Tipu and Raywood ash trees in the Sculpture Garden, between the University Theatre walkway and Toro Center Drive. Hoops History: Toro Men’s and Women’s Teams Reach Elite Eight
On an amazing night for CSUDH basketball, both of the Toro squads reached the Elite Eight of the Division II NCAA Championships. The teams now get a week to prepare for their next opponents—and to make a final push for unprecedented twin national championships. In Carson, the top-seeded women’s team used a stifling defense to shut down sixth-seed Central Washington from the opening tip. Paced by senior Asia Jordan and CCAA Player of the Year Nala Williams, the Toros jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Toros Share Their Scholarship at Annual Student Research Conference
CSUDH held its 20th annual Student Research Conference (SRC) on March 4-6, with students descending on Loker Student Union to show off and discuss the topics they’ve been delving into. Undergraduate and graduate students in fields from every area of campus presented their original research, with topics ranging from cancer treatments to the effects of rent control in California. The three-day event for undergraduate and graduate scholars is held annually to promote excellence in research by recognizing outstanding students' accomplishments across the disciplines. Toro Basketball Teams Win CCAA Championship Titles
The CSUDH women's and men's basketball teams made Toro history over the weekend, with each securing CCAA Tournament Titles and earning spots in the NCAA West Regional Tournaments. The No. 1 seeded women's basketball team completed its championship mission on March 8, dominating No. 2 Cal Poly Pomona 77-54 in the CCAA Tournament Championship at The Sports Center.
