In June, students, faculty and alumni of the CSU Dominguez Hills Orthotics and Prosthetics program were give the opportunity to meet Oscar Pistorius, who with his debut at the 2012 London Olympics in August became the first double leg amputee to participate in an able-bodied Olympics. The special event was organized by global orthopedic design company Ossur and held at its headquarters in Foothill Ranch. CSU Dominguez Hills Awarded Federal Grant to IMPACT Math Teacher Development
California State University, Dominguez Hills has received the first award of a three-year $749,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program to offer professional development and support to algebra teachers in middle and high schools in predominately economically disadvantaged areas of Carson and Los Angeles that serve a large minority population. A chemical threat was reported by authorities following the detonation of an explosive device planted on a rail car in the Alameda Corridor, posing a life-threatening hazardous materials danger several miles wide.
