The California State University, Dominguez Hills Department of Theatre and Dance has teamed up with Los Angeles Harbor College Theatre Department to present five nights of hilarious comedy from American playwright Christopher Durang in “Durang. Durang? Durang!” Performances are Nov. 18, 19, Dec 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. in the CSU Dominguez Hills University Theatre. Beach Cities Alumni Celebrate CSU Dominguez Hills
A reception for California State University, Dominguez Hills alumni was held at the home of Dr. Kathy Tibone (Class of '75, M.S., behavioral science) on Oct. 11. Approximately 100 alumni, most of whom reside in the South Bay beach cities of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach enjoyed a fall evening at Tibone's home on the Strand. “I wanted to renew my connection with the university and this seemed to be something that would really help a lot of people,” said Tibone, who worked as a genetic engineer and taught at CSU Dominguez Hills in the late 1980s. “I'm happy I can do this... On Oct. 22, California State University, Dominguez Hills hosted “La Feria Es El Momento: Edúcalos” (The Moment is Now: Educate Them Fair) on campus, welcoming approximately 50,000 visitors from throughout Southern California and even as far south as Tijuana, Mexico. Organized by Univision's local station KMEX-TV, the Spanish-language education fair promoted a college-bound culture for Spanish-speaking parents and provided information and resources for their children's success from pre-kindergarten through college. CSU Dominguez Hills Conducts Great California Shakeout Earthquake Drill
From students who dutifully trooped out to the Sculpture Garden to designated staff members who were responsible for evacuating campus buildings, the CSU Dominguez Hills community participated in a statewide earthquake drill, the “Great California Shakeout,” on Oct. 20. Approximately 8.6 million Californians took part in the exercise, which was enacted by residents, businesses, and public agencies throughout the state.
