Men’s Basketball Squad Clinches Share of CCAA Title
With an impressive 80-67 road win against Cal Poly Humboldt, the CSUDH Toros men’s basketball team clinched at least a share of the 2023-24 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regular season title. It is the fourth time in school history that the team has taken home the CCAA crown. With an overall record of 22-5, and a conference record of 17-4, the Toros have proven themselves to be one of the best Division II teams on the West Coast. Mental Health Takes Center Stage at Town Hall
CSUDH welcomed U.S. Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA) and the Born This Way Foundation (BTW) to campus on Feb. 22 for a Gen Now Youth Town Hall on mental health. The event brought together youth mental health advocates, students, faculty, and administrators for a panel discussion on ways to better identify the mental health needs of young people and improve the quality and availability of services in the spaces where they’re most needed. Butler was appointed to the Senate in October 2023 by Gov. Gavin Newsom to fill the seat left vacant after the death of Dianne Feinstein. Toro Baseball Looks to Solidify Progress
Under head coach Tyler Wright, the CSUDH baseball program has risen in stature year by year and is now considered one of the mainstays at the top of the conference standings. CSUDH Hosts CA Senate Candidate Forum
On Feb. 1, students and community members had the opportunity to listen to California Senate District 35 candidates share their visions for the region in the lead up to the March 5 California primary election. Hosted by CSUDH and radio station KJLH 102.3, the event began with voter education. CSUDH First Lady Davida Hopkins-Parham spoke about the importance of voting and encouraged participation in the democratic process.
