The winding walkway between the University Theatre and the Student Health Center has always been a lush, calming spot on campus, a place where people stop to enjoy the shade and tranquility. Now the path offers one more reason to stop. If you didn't know any better, you might think that a group of elves had discovered the spot too and decided to call it home. Tiny houses have popped up, as standalone dwellings, or tree houses, signified by colorful little doors in the trees, or as Hobbit-style houses embedded in rock. Spring Break in Nicaragua: Students Offer Helping Hand in Hygiene Education
A group of California State University, Dominguez Hills students spent Spring Break 2014 in Managua, Nicaragua, gathering data about hygiene and working with the community to improve the health of families in the area. The three students– Temi Olagbemi, Reggie Withers and Courtney Zimmerman– are all enrolled in the CSU Dominguez Hills' Master's Entry-level Professional Nursing (MEPN) program, and they along with nursing students from San Diego State University and CSU San Marcos, were part of a nursing study aboard program organized by Fairfield University School of Nursing in conjunction with social work students at Universidad Centramericana (UCA). Country’s First Undocumented Immigrant to Practice Law Legally to Give Talk
Sergio Covarrubias Garcia, who became the first undocumented immigrant to receive a license to practice law in California, will speak at a special Inauguration Lecture on Monday, April 28, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Loker Student Union Ballroom The lecture is part of Inauguration Week activities at CSU Dominguez Hills leading up to the Investiture Ceremony of University President Willie J. Hagan on Friday, May 2. The inauguration theme is “California State University, Dominguez Hills: America Happens Here.” Garcia was born in Michoacán, Mexico, but moved between Mexico and the United States a number of times before settling in California as a teen. Forty-five California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) students along with 15 faculty, staff and administrators were part of the Inaugural CSUDH Women's Retreat: Dig Deep and Blossom that was held on Friday, March 21 through Sunday, March 23 at the American Jewish University. Aimed to inspire, connect, provide resources and build a sisterhood on campus, the retreat included activities focused on teambuilding, reflection, empowerment circles, and community building.
