More than 4,000 college graduates from Cal State Dominguez Hills will receive their diplomas this weekend, with the first of many commencement ceremonies taking place on Friday morning, May 15.
The first commencement ceremonies took place at the tennis stadium at Dignity Health Sports Park and included the College of Arts, and Humanities and the College of Education.
Later in the day, the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences, and the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing held their ceremonies.
Another ceremony for the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing will be held Saturday morning, while the College of Business Administration and Public Policy’s ceremony will be later in the afternoon.
The graduate hooding ceremony for all colleges will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
“The class of 2026 reflects CSUDH’s mission of providing high-quality, accessible education that prepares graduates to meet regional workforce needs in health care, education, business, public service, and technology,” CSUDH spokesperson Lilly McKibbin said in a written statement.
“CSUDH is a leading driver of social mobility, graduating students who uplift their families, give back to their communities, and power the region’s economy,” she added. “The university celebrates the achievements of our students, particularly for the nearly half of graduates who are the first in their family to attend college.”
This year’s graduate hooding ceremony will also include CSUDH’s first class of the Occupational Therapy Doctorate program.
“A huge milestone for the campus,” McKibbin said. “OTD (Occupational Therapy Doctorate) is the first doctoral program offered in the university’s 66 year history, having launched in 2023.”
An honorary doctorate will be awarded on Saturday night to Miguel Santana, president and CEO of the California Community Foundation, in recognition of his work advancing social justice.
