(Carson, CA) California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has partnered with HyperX, a global leader in esports equipment, to become the ‘Official Gaming Peripheral Partner’ of the CSUDH Esports Association. HyperX will provide the Esports Incubator Lab with gaming keyboards, headsets, mouses, microphones, and other state-of-the-art gaming peripherals.
Formed in 2017 by student gamers, the CSUDH Esports Association currently boasts almost 200 members who compete against other universities nationwide and are quickly establishing themselves in collegiate gaming. Esports at CSUDH is part of a broader student success strategy to provide students with opportunities, build community, and apply the skills they use in gaming in their academic and career development.
In announcing the partnership, CSUDH Esports Association general manager and academic advisor Ruben Caputo said, “HyperX liked our innovative approach to supporting our students, and see our work in the Esports Incubator Lab to be a unique way to bridge community. The HyperX motto is ‘We’re All Gamers,’ and we’re excited that this partnership will help us create a space that can be shared with students, faculty, staff, and our other community partners.”
Kitty Nguyen, esports sponsorship specialist for HyperX, added, “In this unique time, when gaming is becoming even more of an opportunity for people to virtually get together with friends and enjoy some entertainment and friendly competition at home, HyperX is excited to extend our support to the CSUDH Esports Association and support the growth of collegiate esports.”
“Community building is a cornerstone of gaming and crucial to HyperX’s success,” said Nguyen. “We aim to positively impact the gaming community. Providing equal opportunities and supporting inclusion, accessibility, and local esports development allows us to increase participation in gaming. We do so because gaming is better when everyone can play. HyperX appreciates being part of this experience and we are excited to align with the CSUDH esports program.”
The partnership between HyperX and the CSUDH Esports Association is set to last for one year, with an option to renew.”‹
