Barrett has been serving as associate dean for external affairs/chief advancement officer at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs since 2015. In light of the ongoing protests and resulting nationwide conversations about racism in America, CSUDH President Thomas A. Parham announced the formation of a Racial Reconciliation Task Force in an email to the campus community.
