California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding during a Board of Trustees meeting at the district’s headquarters on Dec. 13 that will ensure the seamless recruitment, retention, and graduation of LACCD students at CSUDH. The partnership will provide better support to LACCD students intending to transfer to CSUDH, increase the transfer rate of LACCD students to CSUDH, and improve the number of students from the district attending a four-year college. Toro Basketball Shoots for Success
The 2023-24 season is shaping up to be an exciting one for both the men’s and women’s basketball squads at CSUDH. Despite some struggles in their early pre-season schedule, Toro coaches and players are looking forward to a successful year both on and off the court. Of course, the big story in Toro hoops last season was the CSUDH women’s team reaching the NCAA Elite Eight. The women ran up an astounding 31-3 record, at one point running off 19 consecutive victories. As the marketing and public relations coordinator for Associated Students, Inc. (ASI), Raven Emmert is all about making connections and doing her best for the students she serves. “College is a really impactful time in one’s life and I want to ensure that CSUDH students are using their college experience as an opportunity to grow, lead, and blossom,” she says. Immigrant Justice Center Celebrates ‘Reopening’
The Toro Dreamers Success Center has provided critical resources for CSUDH’s undocumented community since 2017. Going forward, that support will continue under a new name that better aligns with its core mission and values—the Immigrant Justice Center (IJC). A formal ribbon-cutting event was held at the center’s office on the first floor of Loker Student Union and upstairs in the Palm Courtyard.
