StateUniversity.com analyzed crime statistics from 450 colleges and universities throughout the country and assigned each a safety rating based on occurrences of crime on campus, weighing the probability of each incidence happening to each student. Shell Establishes Scholarship at CSU Dominguez Hills
California State University, Dominguez Hills President Mildred García has announced the creation of the Shell Oil Scholarship thanks to a recent donation from Shell Pipeline Company LP. The Shell Oil Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student from Carson or other South Bay cities who is in good academic standing and is majoring in one of the university's STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) degree programs. The Veterans Day observance at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) was marked by a week of events to thank and honor all military veterans among the students, alumni, faculty, and staff on the campus. President Mildred García greeted student veterans at an invitation-only luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the Loker Student Union. On Nov. 9, a “show-and-tell” exhibit of military equipment was presented by the CSUDH Veterans Alliance, a student-run organization. A reception for California State University, Dominguez Hills alumni was held at the home of Dr. Kathy Tibone (Class of '75, M.S., behavioral science) on Oct. 11. Approximately 100 alumni, most of whom reside in the South Bay beach cities of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach enjoyed a fall evening at Tibone's home on the Strand. “I wanted to renew my connection with the university and this seemed to be something that would really help a lot of people,” said Tibone, who worked as a genetic engineer and taught at CSU Dominguez Hills in the late 1980s. “I'm happy I can do this...
