CSU Dominguez Hills President Mildred García Takes to the Pulpit This Sunday
This Sunday, Feb. 20, California State University, Dominguez Hills president Mildred García will address the congregation of the Family of Faith Christian Center, led by Pastor Sherman Gordon, as part of the CSU's statewide Super Sunday events at more than 100 African American churches throughout the state in February. García will speak at both of the church's services that day, which begin at 7:30 and 10 a.m. and take place in a familiar location to García -- the Loker Student Union ballroom on the university's campus. California State University, Dominguez Hills is pleased to announce that Alexandra Jordan is the university's new director of development. Her first day was February 7. Jordan comes to CSU Dominguez Hills with more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and higher education arenas. For the past three years she had been a development coordinator at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where she was responsible for implementing fund raising strategies for the College of Business Administration. Second 50th Anniversary Painting Unveiled at Reading by Award-Winning Poet
The second in a series of four paintings exclusively created by local artists for the 50th anniversary of California State University, Dominguez Hills was unveiled on Jan. 20 in the Loker Student Union. Students, faculty, and staff welcomed artist Aydee Lopez Martinez, who shared her new work, “The Heart of CSU Dominguez Hills.” The evening also featured a reading by Chicana poet and educator Lorna Dee Cervantes, who shared a chronology of works from her 30-year career.
