Parham on Oct. 24 as he read Piper Chen Sings, a children’s book about self-expression, confidence, and the power of family support. The special reading event, held at the Child Development Center (CDC), was in celebration of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Day—the world’s largest shared reading experience. Read for the Record invites thousands of schools, child care centers, and libraries to read the same book on the same day, and distributes copies to every child in attendance. In February, a CSUDH delegation traveled to the California State Capitol to discuss the critical need for investment in the CSU with government officials and policymakers. This year’s visit included meetings with Secretary of State Shirley Weber, State Senators Steve Bradford and Lena Gonzalez, and Assemblymember Mia Bonta, and also marked the first time that CSUDH brought a corporate partner to advocate for higher education. (ASI) has hosted Toro Tuesday—a weekly tradition in which students, faculty, and staff proudly don their CSUDH gear. For students, Toro Tuesday is not only a chance to show school spirit, but also to participate in campus activities, make new connections, and win sizable scholarships. Child Development Center Earns NAEYC Accreditation
2023 has become an especially noteworthy year for the CSUDH Child Development Center. Run by Associated Students, Inc., the center has long been a trusted child care provider for students, employees, and the surrounding community. This year, in addition to its 50th anniversary, the center is celebrating a new accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
