After a national search, California State University, Dominguez Hills has appointed M. Gary Sayed as the new dean of the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing effective Aug. 11. Sayed comes to CSU Dominguez Hills with 22 years of experience in higher education, including as dean of science and health at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Sciences and founding director of Charles Drew's biomedical sciences program, where he also was professor of biomedical physics. Terry McGlynn, associate professor of biology, was in Costa Rica in January at the Organization for Tropical Studies' La Selva Biological Station as a visiting professor for its Introduction to Tropical Ecology, a four-week course in field for graduate students. During the month students, who came from universities through the U.S. and abroad, also learned how to use video to share their work. As part of the learning process they produced videos for an internal Student Film Festival.
