Journalism Program Earns ACEJMC Accreditation

The CSUDH journalism program has earned a six-year accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC), the primary educational association of journalism and mass communication educators, students, and media professionals. The multi-year effort was spearheaded by Nancy Cheever, professor and former chair of the CSUDH Communications Department. “My primary goal was to do it for the students, because it's going to open a lot of doors for them,” she says. “Being able to put on your resume that you graduated from an accredited program is huge. ‘I’m a Toro’ Banner Campaign Takes Bronze During CASE Awards

Described by the judges as a “well-designed and executed integrated marketing campaign to engage alumni,” California State University, Dominguez Hills’ (CSUDH) “I’m a Toro” banner campaign took bronze during the virtual Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) 2021 District VII Awards of Excellence ceremony on Feb. 5. Entered in the “Alumni Relations: Targeted Constituency Engagement” category, the “I’m a Toro” campaign decorated the campus walkways with striking banners showcasing many of the university’s most successful alumni. Faculty Researchers Provide In-Depth Analysis of Fake News

Researchers at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) have released the results of a study that provides an in-depth understanding of who produces and spreads “fake news,” and who is duped by it. The findings are part of a larger study on the psychological constructs associated with fake news consumers and producers. Developed in CSUDH’s George Marsh Applied Cognition Laboratory by Professor of Psychology Mark Carrier, Professor of Communications Nancy A. Cheever, and students from the lab, data from the 14-month study was collected from an anonymous online questionnaire conducted from December 2018 to February 2020. Daily Breeze: CSUDH Receives $1.6 Million to Preserve Historic Music from African Diaspora

Source: Daily Breeze The Michigan-based Georgia and Nolan Payton Foundation has offered Carson’s Cal State Dominguez Hills a $1.6 million gift that will help preserve historic musical performances and songs for the new Center For African Diaspora Sacred Music and Musicians. Formerly known as the African Diaspora Sacred Music and Musicians Program, it already includes the Georgia and Nolan Payton Archive of Sacred Music.
