CSUDH welcomed California's chief service officer, Josh Fryday, on Nov. 9 for a meeting with students in the first cohort of “Californians for All” College Corps, the largest state-level investment in a college service program in California's history. President Parham Honored as 100 Black Men of Los Angeles’ Man of the Year
For his leadership and advocacy, California State University, Dominguez Hills President Thomas A. Parham will be recognized as the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles' Man of the Year at their 40th annual gala, which will take place virtually on Oct. 23. The nonprofit organization, dedicated to improving the quality of life for Blacks and other underrepresented racial groups, will also honor Congresswoman Maxine Waters as their Lifetime Achievement Awardee and LA County Supervisor Holly J. She's leading a rapt circle of four-year-olds in a rousing rendition of “Slippery Fish” at the YWCA preschool in Compton. “Slippery fish, slippery fish, gulp gulp gulp,” she sings, wriggling her hands as the children squeal with delight. Male Success Alliance Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Students of Color
(Carson, Calif.) California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) innovative Male Success Alliance (MSA) program is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The first of its kind in California to address retention and graduation rates among male college students, and high school dropout rates and access to higher education for boys of color, the MSA has garnered accolades and the funding to help develop similar programs statewide.
