(Carson, CA) - “Legend and Legacy: José Guadalupe Posada and Contemporary Latinx Art,” a multimedia exhibition tracing the influence of Mexican illustrator José Guadalupe Posada on contemporary Latinx artists, will run Oct. 7-Dec. 13, Monday-Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and by appointment at the University Art Gallery at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). On their home turf, four proud Toro alumni were honored for their video production prowess during the 2017 CSU Media Arts Festival (MAF), which took place on Nov. 4 at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) for the first time in the festival's 27-year history. “Plastic Disaster,” a documentary about the devastating effect of plastic waste on marine life, has become an “ironclad achievement” for three Digital Media Arts (DMA) students at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). Johnny Gonzales could play it safe and buy an expensive telescopic lens for his camera and stand on the sand to take his photographs, but “What fun would that be?” To capture a charging backside ride up close, he would rather strap on his fins, grab his camera, and swim out to where the waves are breaking to join a professional surfer inside a barrel. CSU Dominguez Hills Digital Media Arts Students’ PSA Played at LA Clippers Game
“Everybody Plays,” a public service announcement (PSA) produced by seniors in California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Digital Media Arts (DMA) program, was played before thousands of basketball fans at the Jan. 8 Los Angeles Clippers versus Miami Heat game at the Staples Center. The PSA was chosen from four student-produced pieces, all of who were enrolled in the DMA 346 Client-Based Production Workshop in spring 2016, the final course in a four-semester sequence required for the DMA Television Arts degree option.
