Nearly 150 future educators will soon be ready to join the teaching ranks now that California State University, Dominguez Hills has awarded them almost a million dollars in scholarship funds through the university’s new Toros Teach LA program. In this first year of the program, a collaborative effort between the university’s College of Education and College of Health, Human Services and Nursing, 146 CSUDH students who plan to work in early childhood education will receive a total of $935,000 in scholarships. KABC: Little-Known Program Offers Steep College Tuition Discounts for Some Colleges in Western States
Source: KABC (Video) Out-of-state tuition: Four words that often influence a family's colleges choices. But there's a little-known program that might open a lot of opportunity. The Western Undergraduate Exchange, or WUE, is an agreement between over 160 colleges and universities to offer steep tuition discounts for students in the West. Last year, 46,000 students saved roughly $520 million through the program. CSUDH Jumps to 8th Place on the Social Mobility Index
CSUDH has risen from 10th to 8th place on CollegeNET, Inc.'s 2021 Social Mobility Index, a benchmark for universities according to how effectively they graduate students from low-income backgrounds into good-paying jobs. The 2021 Social Mobility Index includes 1,549 four-year institutions. Six CSU campuses, including CSUDH, were among the top ten. The Index utilizes five variables in making assessments, including tuition, economic background, graduation rate, early career salary, and university endowment, with the greatest emphasis put on tuition and economic background. TRIO Student Support Services Receives $2.4 Million Grant
(Carson, CA) California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has received two U.S. Department of Education (DOE) grants totaling $2.4 million for the TRIO Student Support Services program to provide low-income and military veteran students the services and coaching they need to excel at CSUDH.
