California State University, Dominguez Hills has received the new Carnegie designation Research Colleges and Universities (RCU), the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching announced. Gabriella Amaya’s passion for occupational therapy stems not simply from a deep desire to be of service to others. “It’s about building and regaining people's independence by doing the things they love most and need to do,” she says. “I have so much drive for doing the best I can in my own life. CSUDH graduate student Esmond Epuna isn’t someone who lets obstacles or challenges stand in his way – whether it’s a school abruptly closing its doors or the daunting task of a cross-country commute. Currently pursuing a master’s in cybersecurity, Epuna hasn’t let anything distract him from his dreams. Epuna graduated from high school in 2013, then started taking courses at El Camino College. He soon transferred to the for-profit technical college ITT Technical Institute. California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has appointed Sheree Schrager as dean of Graduate Studies and Research. She will begin her new position July 1. As CSUDH's new dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Schrager is responsible for leading and expanding the quality of graduate programs on campus, developing the university's external funding portfolio, and developing policies and procedures related to these areas. In her role, Schrager will lead the coordination of curriculum and program review for all graduate programs and work jointly with the dean of Undergraduate Studies in overseeing the University Curriculum Committee and the production of the University Catalog. ...
