Ryan Traylor: Moving Beyond Disability, Finding a Purpose

Ryan Traylor is a communications major and an intern in the Office of Communication and Public Affairs at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome as a child, he has overcome many challenges while moving  toward becoming a college graduate, and is discovering new strengths and a direction for his life. Thomas Landefeld: Preparing Students to Tackle Health Disparities in the South

Professor of biology Thomas Landefeld presented, “Careers in the Sciences for Minority Students: How to Make the Right Choice and Then How to Be a Competitive Applicant”  to students at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University, Bennett College for Women, and Albany State University in Georgia last month. The students are members of National Institute of General Medical Sciences Minority Opportunities in Research (NIGMS MORE) programs. Landefeld notes that students in the South face similar health disparities in the medical field as the rest of the nation. Consul General of the Republic of Hungary to Visit CSU Dominguez Hills

Ambassador Balázs Bokor, consul general of the Republic of Hungary in Los Angeles, will visit CSU Dominguez Hills on Wednesday, March 16.

Hungary has given the world more than Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor, the Rubik’s Cube, Béla Bartók, and the Pulitzer Prize; it has made considerable contributions that helped to change the world. Ambassador Balázs Bokor, consul general of the Republic of Hungary in Los Angeles, will visit California State University, Dominguez Hills to discuss Hungary’s relationship with the United States, and the world, on Wednesday, March 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Loker Student Union, Ballroom C. Intramural Sports Program Helps Keep Students in the Game

Sophomore Martha Torres has found that the Intramural Sports Program (DHi) at California State University, Dominguez Hills has a lot more in store for students than just earning one unit to play their favorite sport. “I tried different sports,” says the kinesiology major, who assists the program as an intern, which is  sponsored by American Collegiate Intramural Sports (ACIS) .“I was into soccer, soccer, soccer. So I tried tennis; it was very interesting. Softball, I didn’t even know how to play [at first]. This semester, I’m going to try aqua aerobics. I don’t even know how to swim, but I’m going to try it.
