Source: Daily Breeze Cal State Dominguez Hills celebrated the grand opening this week of an esports facility, which university officials said is “a staple strategy to benefit enrollment, retention, recruitment, and career readiness.” The Toro Esports Academy is on the second floor of the Leo F. Cain University Library. It will serve the entire university community by providing a classroom, an arena and an incubator for students, university officials said in a recent press release. Gerth Archives Marks New Milestones in Documenting History
The CSUDH Gerth Archives and Special Collections, noted for its preservation of Southern California histories and cultures, has had three major developments toward its mission of making materials more accessible to the public. The Archives is inviting the campus community and public to explore the newly completed Japanese American Digitization Project online, as well as the “Know Justice, Know Peace” exhibition currently on view in the University Library. CSUDH Launches New Filipino American Digital Archive
On Saturday, March 5, leaders of the Filipino community and local dignitaries will join California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) faculty and representatives of the university’s Gerth Archives and Special Collections to celebrate the launch of the CSUDH Filipino American Digital Archive (FADA). CSUDH Receives Grant to Continue Japanese American Digitization Project
(Carson, CA) – California State University, Dominguez Hills’ (CSUDH) Donald R. and Beverly J. Gerth Archives and Special Collections has received $282,102 from the National Parks Service’s (NPS) World War II Japanese American Confinement Sites (JACS) grant program to continue its work on the California State University Japanese American Digitization Project (CSUJAD). The JACS grant will fund the digitization of several recently donated collections that include approximately 7,000 archival items related to the incarceration of 120,000 Americans during WWII.
