Armand Jovaughn Egere is proud to be a Black artist. “It’s a type of activism,” says the CSUDH fifth-year student. “The way my story is typically written, I’m not supposed to make it. But I’m out here beating the odds, and trying to be a symbol for other young Black artists.” Egere’s leadership, as well as his service promoting antiracism and culture change to elevate Black excellence, have earned him the CSU’s first-ever Black Student Success Scholarship, sponsored by the CSU Foundation. Biology Student Named Aquarium of the Pacific African American Scholar
Fourth-year biology student Kimberly Randolph is the first CSUDH student to be named an African American Scholar of the Aquarium of the Pacific, an honor which includes a $10,000 scholarship and educational opportunities with the Aquarium. Randolph, originally from Modesto, Calif., is among ten exceptional California university students chosen for the 2023 award. With a $700,000 donation to CSUDH, Doug Le Bon made university history for donating the largest gift to CSUDH from a living alum. Le Bon, who earned two business degrees from CSUDH, a BS in Business Administration (1976) and an MBA (1979), is the co-founder and senior managing director of Pathway Capital Management, one of world's most successful private markets investment firms, managing over $85 billion in assets. CSUDH Philanthropic Gifts Top $8 Million in Record-Breaking Year
California State University, Dominguez Hills received a total of $8.3 million in philanthropic gifts and pledges during the 2020-2021 fiscal year. The record-breaking amount continues the upward trend of CSUDH giving, almost doubling the total of $4.5 million raised in 2019-2020.
