A group of international students studying at CSUDH literally helped build walls and figuratively built connections at a Habitat for Humanity build day recently in Watts. Not even the unseasonably warm weather could dampen the students’ enthusiasm for their charitable work, as they worked together to make a house a home for a family in need. As Siba Kattan, a student from Saudi Arabia, put it, “I feel good about helping people who need it. I've never experienced something like that. It's like doing yoga ten times! CSUDH Receives Grant to Improve Degree Completion for Male Students of Color
(Carson, Ca.) – California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has been awarded a $166,000 grant from the College Futures Foundation to improve bachelor degree completion for male students of color in the California State University (CSU) system. “Whether presented on a national or regional platform, the access, retention and graduation rates for young men of color are alarming,” said William Franklin, vice president for Student Affairs at CSUDH. Nursing Student Kathryn Gallant Cares for Premature Babies in Texas after Hurricane
“I’ve been working 12-hour shifts every night. I’m currently on my sixth, out of likely 12 or 13 shifts in a row. This is something I have never done before.” Kathryn Gallant, who is earning her Master of Science-Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) degree at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), made that statement just before starting a night shift at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, Tex., just outside of Houston.
