CSUDH Receives $1.59 Million to Increase Multilingual and Minoritized Teachers

The CSUDH College of Education has been awarded $1.59 million through the U.S. Department of Education's first-ever Augustus F. Hawkins Centers of Excellence Program, which aims to increase high-quality teacher preparation programs for teachers of color, diversify the teacher pipeline, and address teacher shortages. CSUDH was the only California university represented among the twelve institutions of higher education awardees, which were announced Feb. 15. CSUDH Receives Largest Single Donation in University History from Snap Inc.

Snap Inc., developer of Snapchat, announced today a $5 million gift to California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) for the creation and endowment of a new institute focused on addressing equity gaps in computing education. The gift comprises the largest single donation ever given to the CSUDH campus. CISE Receives $7.6 Million to Create Hybrid Teacher Credential Program

(Carson, Ca.) California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has been awarded the first year of a $7.6 million multi-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) to develop an innovative teacher education program that offers the unique opportunity to earn a multiple-subject and single-subject credential in one program. Most universities only offer these credentials in separate programs. The Accelerated Preparation Program for Leaders in Education (APPLE) program will receive $4,946,297 over three years or $7,591.553 over five years to prepare approximately 350 teachers for the classroom.
