The CSUDH Workforce Integration Network (WIN) has been awarded $5.3 million through the National Telecommunication and Information Administration's Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program (CMC). The funds will support “Closing the Digital Divide with CSUDH-WIN,” an innovative outreach effort which connects CSUDH students with partnering organizations to provide training, equipment, and technology resources to members of the community. CSUDH is one of only 19 institutions awarded CMC grants to date, and one of only three in Southern California. Snap Inc., developer of Snapchat, announced today a $5 million gift to California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) for the creation and endowment of a new institute focused on addressing equity gaps in computing education. The gift comprises the largest single donation ever given to the CSUDH campus. CSUDH Student Turns Hobby into Start-Up Business
When the COVID-19 lockdown first took effect in March 2020, CSUDH student Alexandra Carrasco suddenly found herself stuck at home with a lot of extra time on her hands. She decided to put that time to good use, building a customized computer keyboard for herself. In the months since, she's been able to turn those skills into a fledgling business, creating custom keyboards for clients by hand. California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has been awarded the first year of a $7.6 million multi-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) to develop an innovative teacher education program that offers the unique opportunity to earn a multiple-subject and single-subject credential in one program. Most universities only offer these credentials in separate programs.
