CSUDH held its 20th annual Student Research Conference (SRC) on March 4-6, with students descending on Loker Student Union to show off and discuss the topics they’ve been delving into. Undergraduate and graduate students in fields from every area of campus presented their original research, with topics ranging from cancer treatments to the effects of rent control in California. The three-day event for undergraduate and graduate scholars is held annually to promote excellence in research by recognizing outstanding students' accomplishments across the disciplines. We all know we’re going to die one day, but we’d rather not think about that. Instead, we self-improve, plan our careers, chase money, and seek validation, striving to become something or someone of importance. We make these “hero projects” our life’s work as we avoid the more difficult task of grappling with our own mortality. And we raise our children to do the same. CSUDH Receives New Research Designation
California State University, Dominguez Hills has received the new Carnegie designation Research Colleges and Universities (RCU), the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching announced. CA Attorney General Rob Bonta visited Teddy’s Pantry on the CSUDH campus on Feb. 6 to see how College Corps fellows are making a difference in the lives of students facing food insecurity and other challenges that affect their academic success and overall wellbeing. The pantry is part of a broader umbrella of services available through the Toro CARE program, which provides critical support for students’ basic needs—food, housing, mental health services, and emergency financial assistance—and removes barriers that can impede academic, emotional, or social progress.
