University to Host National Park Service Planning Meeting On Tule Lake
The University Library at California State University, Dominguez Hills will host one of several public workshops organized by the National Park Service this summer to plan a vision for the Tule Lake Unit of World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, which preserves the Tule Lake Segregation Center site where more than 29,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed and incarcerated during World War II. The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 25, on the fifth floor of the Library's South Wing. The California State University, Dominguez Hills family suffered another tragic loss in June with the untimely deaths of digital media arts major René Romero and alumna Stefanie Ramirez (Class of 2011, B.S. sociology), who died in a car accident on Friday, June 28. $249K National Science Foundation Grant to Send Students to Australia to Study Climate Change
California State University, Dominguez Hills associate professor of biology Terry McGlynn has been awarded a three-year $249,922 National Science Foundation (NSF) International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) grant to establish the Fire, Carbon, and Climate Change in Australia program. The IRES grant will fully fund the opportunity for 12 undergraduate and graduate science majors at CSU Dominguez Hills to conduct climate change science research in collaboration with the CSIRO Tropical Ecosystems Research Centre (TERC) in the Northern Territory of Australia.
