Science and Innovation Building on Schedule for Fall 2020 Opening
With numerous complex stages of implementation, construction on a building as technically advanced and educationally accommodating as California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Science and Innovation Building takes time, as well as the patience of those eager to teach and learn in it. Fortunately for all, construction on the $82 million, 91,000-square-foot instructional and research center is on schedule to be completed in October 2019. Faculty move-ins and tours for prospective freshmen will begin as early as spring 2020, with the building's official opening planned for fall 2020. Three high-achieving California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) students have been named 2018-19 Sally Casanova Scholars and selected to participate in the California State University system's (CSU) competitive California Pre-Doctoral Program. Cellular and molecular biology major Natalya Cardona, Spanish linguistics major Jesús Eduardo González Franco, and history major Thaithao Nguyen are among 75 undergraduate and graduate students from across the CSU system who are part of this year's pre-doctoral cohort. Enjoying the mild early June gloom temperature during California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) 2018 commencement May 18 and 19, more than 39,000 loud and proud family and friends cheered on the Class of 2018–the largest in university history–as they made their way to the stage in the StubHub Center Soccer Stadium. University Comes Together to Celebrate President Willie J. Hagan
President Willie J. Hagan inadvertently became an audience of one when he stepped out of the elevator on the second floor of the Loker Student Union into a well-choreographed flash mob on the way to his retirement party on May 9 at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Made up of dance students and volunteers, the flash mob continued to sing and dance around Hagan as they escorted him into the party, where he was greeted by hundreds of faculty and staff members there to wish him well and celebrate CSUDH's six years of growth and achievement under his leadership.
