Art and Design Student David Kwock Honored for LA Opera’s ‘Salome’ Program Cover Design
David Kwock, an art and design major at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), was honored with 2nd place and a $2,000 prize for his program cover design for the LA Opera's spring production of composer Richard Strauss' opera, Salome. Kwock and students in art and design lecturer John Lionel Pierce's Design 342 course competed last fall with 35 students from 13 other campuses in Southern California to be featured on the cover of the widely distributed program. Pianist Sean Chen, a Southern California native who at 28 years old is a rising star in the music world, will perform in California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) winter concert Steinway by Starlight at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the University Theatre. “Everybody Plays,” a public service announcement (PSA) produced by seniors in California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Digital Media Arts (DMA) program, was played before thousands of basketball fans at the Jan. 8 Los Angeles Clippers versus Miami Heat game at the Staples Center. The PSA was chosen from four student-produced pieces, all of who were enrolled in the DMA 346 Client-Based Production Workshop in spring 2016, the final course in a four-semester sequence required for the DMA Television Arts degree option.
