Showcasing the high standards for student research and faculty mentorship at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), nine students garnered top honors in four categories during the statewide 2020 CSU Student Research Competition, which was hosted via Zoom by CSU East Bay on April 24-25. John and Katherine Tracy Establish Takeshi Katsumata Endowed Scholarship
To help support STEM students in financial need, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) alumnus and retired Boeing executive John Tracy, and his wife Katherine, have donated $200,000 to establish the Takeshi Katsumata Endowed Scholarship in the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences (NBS). Two Toros Win Prestigious NSF Fellowships
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) received a double shot of exciting news recently, when it was announced that two Toro students have been awarded prestigious Graduate Research Fellowships from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Sahara Vilchis and Elijah Arzate will both be able to pursue original graduate research projects thanks to the NSF award. Vilchis, a senior anthropology major, won the award for a research proposal focused on obesity and diabetes in indigenous communities. Ximena Cid is more than an accomplished physicist, she's also a self-described “vocal advocate for women and black, indigenous, and people of color” participating in physics, space, and other hard sciences. The California State University, Dominguez Hills physics professor is considered a trailblazer in the field, a status that was confirmed with her recent selection as a delegate to the International Conference on Women in Physics.
