“Ms. Carlson’s prominent role in the South Bay and her expertise running a large organization like Providence Little Company of Mary-San Pedro will be assets to the CSU Dominguez Hills Foundation Board, and ultimately to the university,” said Mildred García, president of CSU Dominguez Hills. “We look forward to her contributions to the board and are grateful for her continued support of her alma mater.”

Named CEO of Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in San Pedro in 2001, Carlson previously had worked in senior executive roles at Kaiser Permanente, Tenet and Daniel Freeman Hospital following 15 years as a practicing nurse. Under her leadership, Providence Little Company of Mary has received national recognition for its high quality of patient care and financial management.

Carlson is a two-time graduate of CSU Dominguez Hills, having earned her bachelor of nursing degree in 1994 and then a Master of Public Administration in 1996. She was recently honored by the College of Business Administration and Public Policy with the 2010 Alumni of the Year award.

In addition to her role on the CSU Dominguez Hills Foundation Board of Directors, Carlson is vice chair of the Alliance Board of Catholic Health Care, a board member of the Private Essential Access Community Hospital (PEACH), and Hospital Association of Southern California. She lives in Manhattan Beach.
