A specialist in modern United States history, he received his Ph.D. from Cornell University, master’s degree from Vanderbilt University, and B.A. from the College of Wooster.

Since his 2009 retirement from the CSU, Reichard has held two interim provost positions: interim provost and vice president for academic and student affairs for the University of Louisiana System and interim provost at Trident University International.

A national search to fill the position of provost and vice president of academic affairs at CSU Dominguez Hills will commence in August after faculty and students have returned to campus.
