“Once a Toro, always a Toro!” There are few people who those words hold truer for than David Andres Gamboa, California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) new assistant vice president for external relations in the Division of University Advancement (UA). “I was honored and felt very proud when I learned I was moving to this position,” said Gamboa. “As a Toro, it is wonderful to know I will play a larger role in growing a university I've always felt very committed and connected to.” Gamboa (2005, B.A., Communications), who was appointed to his new position in July 2015, began working at CSUDH in 2007 as director of government and community relations, where he was responsible ... He may have lost his spot running the half-marathon, but top sprinter Michael Destouche from Dominica doesn't mind; he is still certain he will don “gold” and stand on the tallest podium after competing in the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015 (LA2015). “I'm ready for the games and I'm very excited to be here. It's my first time in this country and it's beautiful,” said Destouche. “I'm a sprinter and I'm running the 50- and 100- meter races. We practice every day–Saturday and after work, so I'm looking forward to competing. Last year I did the half-marathon and came in first. I'm not doing it this year because I'm getting old. He earned his bachelor's degree in physics in 1980. “Phil was what you might call a renaissance man, well-versed in many fields: literature, philosophy and history,” wrote Keith ... Read More
