Today, Nguyen's wish has come true, although in an unexpected way. As a strategic partnerships manager for public figure partnerships at Facebook she works daily with actors, as well as singers and other famous individuals. According to student population data for the California State University system, more than 70 percent of CSU students and their families would be eligible for Medi-Cal or government subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the federal healthcare reform law commonly referred to as ObamaCare that requires that all legal U.S. residents have health insurance by Jan. 1, 2014 or pay a penalty. Jenny Greer: Volunteerism Started while Student Results in Award
Recent CSU Dominguez Hills alumna Jenny Greer ('13, B.S. geology; environmental science) was honored as Outstanding Volunteer by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC), which since 1988 has successfully preserved 1,600 acres of open space on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The award was presented at the PVPLC's annual Volunteer Appreciation luncheon in July. "I had no idea I was going to be given an award," Greer said.
