The ever-animated and provocative author, activist, philosopher and scholar Cornel West addressed a full house at California State University, Dominguez Hills on Nov. 1, energizing approximately 1,000 visitors in the Loker Student Union Ballroom and spillover crowds on the first and second floor lobbies who listened to his talk via live audio feed. The College of Business Administration and Public Policy (CBAPP) Advisory Board at California State University, Dominguez Hills awarded scholarships to 25 outstanding business students, hosted approximately 350 guests, and raised $45,000 for new scholarships at the Sixth Annual CBAPP Awards Luncheon on Nov. 1 in the Loker Student Union Ballroom. “Today we are here to honor students, businesses, business leaders and CBAPP alumni,” said CBAPP Dean Joseph Wen, adding that the scholarship students are an example of the support the university receives, which helps the next generation of students have the resources to complete their dream of higher education. Toros Run, Bike, Swim in Tri-CARSON on Campus
Sunday turned out to be a perfect day for a run, a bike ride, or a swim–or for those competing in the TRI-CARSON reverse sprint triathlon on campus, all three. Nearly 400 people registered for the third annual event organized by LBTri, the City of Carson and CSU Dominguez Hills and presented by Kaiser Permanente. In addition to the main race, Tri-CARSON also included a kid's triathlon and a Train 4 Autism 5K. Day of the Dead: A Lively Celebration
An altar adorned with papel piccado (festive cut tissue paper) sits strewn with candles, edible calaveras de azúcar (sugar skulls), fishing rods and lures, potato chips, hard liquor, and a pack of cigarettes. But fishermen haven't snuck into church for late night fun. This altar, or ofrenda, was constructed at California State University, Dominguez Hills for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in honor of the late Rodney King.
